Geo
Takoma started working out daily at the age of ten, lifting weights
by twelve, played high school football and then discovered gymnastic
in college. Then came Vietnam.
Geo's intense dedication
to yoga began in the military as a U.S. Marine Corps Sergeant.
He served in Vietnam as an advisor to Vietnamese and Korean troops.
In 1968, he fought during the Tet offensive. His experiences as
a soldier in the Far East taught him the importance of blending
the intellectual, the wondrous and the physical. His goal by the
early '70s was to preserve youth and become a living example of
true power.
Geo began practicing
yoga in 1974, was certified by the renowned Indra Devi as a yoga
instructor in 1975, and studied with several other yoga masters
during the four trips to India, including Vishnudevananda, the
Venerable Dharmawara, and Muktananda. Geo served as the Fitness
Director at the world-famous Ashram Health Retreat in Calabasas,
California. Geo has worked with many celebrities such as Cindy
Crawford, Amber Vallata, Cheryl Tiegs, Stevie Nicks, Simon LeBon,
James Coburn, Cindy Herald, and at the Ashram with Oprah Winfrey,
Salma Hayek, Ashley and Wyonna Judd, Leigh Taylor-Young, and many
other stars of movies, television and business.
Geo has authored The
Complete Idiot's Guide to Power Yoga (sold over 40,000 copies).
Geo has also produced Geo's Power Yoga Level 1 compact disc. Geo's
Power Yoga Level 2 is soon to be released. He conducts workshops
and teacher trainings nationally and internationally.
